Friday Affordable Frock Love – New Look

Although I rarely shop on the High Street I do love to drool over pretty things as much as the next girl.

New Look is one of my favourite stops when I do shop the High Street. Their shoes, particularly, I find amazing and affordable, I can pretty much always find the style I’m looking for, like their designers have been peeking in my brain.

I also like their dresses. I’ve never had a problem with poor quality and shrinkage, like I have with other lower cost brands and the styles are so cute.

Currently I’m loving.

Ruffle Hem Dress £25

This one is marked as a Day Dress, but I think I’d be more likely to wear it as evening wear. I’d change the belt as those awful tie belts do absolutely nothing for my figure. I think it’s got a 60s feel. I’d wear it with white tights, black pumps, lots of eye make up and bouffant hair.

Blouse Front Knitted Dress £30

I love the fake blouse detail on the front of this dress, and I think the white detail at the waist would be flattering enough that I could wear it without a belt. Being knitted it’ll either be stretchy enough to incorporate my annoyingly non standard hips, or it’ll look awful. It’s a challenge!

Mela Bow & Sequin Dress £29.99

From New Looks Boutique Brands I know I could make this adorable Mela dress work with black opaques, lace up shoes and a hat for 1930s feel. Understated sequins for day. Perfect.

Striped Halter Dress £25

I love Nautical dresses. For the last couple of years I have almost lived in this one. But it won’t last for ever. I have another Nautical Dress from Lady K Loves that is just waiting for some improvement in the weather for an outing. But you can’t beat a good halter neck dress for keeping cool when the weather is really hot (which I’m fairly sure we’re due after all this snow, right?)

Zip Back Peplum Dress £30

I love this but it will not fit me. I promise you. I adore this style of dress, but I have only ever found one that fits me, and it dates from the late 1950s. I am simply the wrong shape for modern dresses. It will be too wide across the back. Baggy on the waist and then pull across the hips, if it goes over them at all. Still. Isn’t it pretty?
