Septembers design spotlight reminds us of the important fact that design isn’t all about flashy details and dramatic silhouettes, sometimes it’s about getting the basics right first.
Sara Seumae started SPUN after she was unable to find quality, stylish, organic clothing that wouldn’t break the budget. Those basic pieces just weren’t there in an affordable price range so she decided to make them herself.
SPUN officially launched in February 2008 in Seattle and consists of a range of classic, affordable quality basics conforming to Sara’s personal 3 F’s – that it Fits, Flatters and is Fashionable.
All the clothing from SPUN is made in the United States (where SPUN is based) using high quality 100% Certified Organic Cotton which is dyed using environmentally safe low–impact fiber reactive dyeing processes.
There is everything from basic every day tops to versatile dresses that could work for day or night.
I can personally vouch for the quality as the lovely Sara sent me a 3/4 sleeve top from her basics range which is made of thick quality cotton and has a super flattering slightly puffed sleeve.
At the moment I’m also coveting the Boat neck dress. I want to try it loose over thick ribbed tights, and I’m wondering what it would look like belted in?
