After the success of their first collection earlier this year YSL have just announced they will be launching a second “New Vintage” collection that will be available in flagship stores in London, Paris, Milan, New York and Hong Kong from early December.

The collection will consist of limited numbered styles from their archives, produced using fabrics from their inventory.

Is this eco fashion? Is it Vintage? Who cares? The reusing of “old” fabrics that would otherwise remain archived is both commercially savvy and makes use of existing resources without wasting energy creating from scratch so environmentally it’s certainly more sound. It’s like cooking with your leftovers but Haute Couture.

All I know is I won’t be able to afford it, but as the first collection sold out 75% of it’s inventory in the first 2 hours it’s unlikely that will matter.
