Define Your Style ❤ Part One ❤

From comments people have made to me about my blog and my style it seems that the biggest problem a lot of women have about the way they dress is that they feel they have no defined personal style. They want to be that woman who gets up in the morning and throws together an effortlessly stylish and perfectly accessorised outfit, but they don’t know where to start.

Personally, I don’t think you need a huge wardrobe full of expensive clothes to have style. In fact some of the most stylish people I know have a very bare wardrobe. The key to being that woman is to know your style and only buy things that fit into it.

Why Define Your Style?

Defining your personal style and spending some time putting a little bit of thought into who you are and who you want to be means that getting dressed in the morning won’t be such a traumatic chore.

Ultimately it will mean that your wardrobe contents reflect who you truly feel you are and that all your pieces complement each other. Putting together an outfit that makes you feel polished and gorgeous will be a matter of mere moments.

What Does Defining Your Style Mean?

Defining your style isn’t about creating a classic capsule wardrobe of boring white shirts and indigo boot cut jeans, though those things may have their place. In fact, it’s the opposite, it’s about knowing yourself well enough to NOT buy those things. I know that a classic white shirt has no place in my wardrobe, and therefore I don’t own one. It’s just not my style.

Developing your style is an ongoing process. No one stays the same for ever and personal style evolves as much as everything else about you. Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting a series covering different aspects of finding your own personal style to help you be the very best you can be in 2010.
