This Week I…..

Hello!

How are you all today? I hope you’re enjoying this fresh Autumnal weather as much as I am, I’ve never been so pleased to get rid of a hot and sticky Summer.

As of now I have no plans for the rest of my Sunday, so I expect I will completely waste it sitting on the sofa doing nothing, but that doesn’t sound so terrible really. Maybe I’ll read some of that pile of magazines still in their plastic that I never have time to get to? Or maybe I’ll just snooze with the Pugs. Who knows?

But first, this week I…..

Met 2 Blind Dogs

I don’t think I’ve ever met a blind dog before, and this week I met 2.

The first one was at the Boot Fair we did in the morning. A little white fluffy pup wearing, and I can’t quite get over the cuteness of this, little doggy sunglasses. We chatted for a bit and discovered this doggo would wave at you for treats.

Later on, we took the Pugs for a walk in the park, and met another blind dog. What are the chances? It was another small dog that got nervous when it could hear people and not see them and barked a lot. We didn’t chat for long, but we gave it some ear rubs and went on our way.

What I didn’t do was take photos of either of these dogs, so instead have this photo of Peppa that I took moments after she’d run head first into a wall trying to catch a fly.  Idiot. No wonder her face is flat.

Started Making Wine

All the way back in 2011 I went on holiday to a little village in Germany called Beilstein. It’s a winemaking region and we bought back with us a small grapevine, which we planted in our garden. That grapevine has now taken over most of our garden fence, and, will wonders never cease, actually produces grapes.

A couple of years ago we made wine from them, but last year we were too busy. This year we’re giving it another go. I say “we” Mr LLL does most of the hard work and I just help hold straining bags, strip grapes from the bunches, pour wine into bottles and out of bottles into glasses for the all important taste testing (this bit is my speciality).

It is great fun watching the bubbles go “blup” while it’s fermenting in these big tubs.

Became a Hormonal Mess

For very many years I have been getting the contraceptive injection Depo Provera. It lasts 12 weeks, but for around 15 years I’ve been getting mine done at 10 weeks because in the last 3-4 weeks of the 12 weeks I start to get hormonal symptoms that get progressively worse. It’s like REALLY bad PMT. Anxiety, clumsiness, weepiness, forgetfulness, irritability and irrational and obsessive behaviour. It’s like a fog in my brain, and I can see myself acting like a crazy person, but I can’t stop it happening.

Last year the nurse told me new rules meant I couldn’t have it early, but instead must wait for the 12 weeks. I did that once, it was horrendous, and I got the doctor to sign me off to be allowed it at 10 weeks going forward.

Which has been fine, until now. This time I forgot to make my appointment until it was too late, and had to go right up to the 12 weeks before I could have my injection on Friday. Which is a very long-winded way of saying that at Scrim practice on Thursday night I had a total meltdown and spent most of the evening in the penalty box crying.

I’ve had my injection and am now returned to being an almost sane and rational human being. Almost.

Had a Bath with an Elephant

When you’re tired, and weepy a bath bomb with an elephant in it is the best way to cheer yourself up. Mr LLL bought this for me. I don’t know where it came from, but the elephant is super cute.

And that was another week in my life. Mostly uneventful. Apart from the hormone induced meltdown.

How was your week?
