Staying Blonde – Review of Fudge Blonde Products

When I started going blonde what I was really after was platinum.

However, I soon discovered that whatever colour hair the woman on the front of the box has, your hair will be yellow when you dye it. The only way to knock that yellow out is with toners and shampoos and all sorts of other exciting new products to try, and I do like a fancy pants new product to play around with.

I found I preferred the Smart Beauty silver toner to the Directions that lots of people use, and I bought myself a bottle of Silver Touch shampoo, which is pretty cheap from Boots. I wasn’t entirely sure it did anything though, maybe it stopped the toner fading so quick, or maybe it did nothing?

Fragrance Direct then asked me if I wanted to review something from their site. I’m not fussed about perfume that much as I have an appalling sense of smell, though I occasionally spritz some on for other peoples benefit, but I did spot a couple of Fudge Blonde products on there that I thought I might like to try.

So I did, and here’s what I thought of them.

Fudge Colour Conditioner

This came in a little sachet and I thought it would be a good travel thing, which it was. What it wasn’t, however, is a particularly good conditioner, nor did it have any effect on my colour. Apparently it contains micro pigment technology, which must mean “so small they don’t do anything” pigment technology.

Disappointing.

Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo

If you are blonde you have to have this shampoo. The first time I used it, I thought I’d actually turned my hair blue, and it left a tinge to my hands (which washed off quite quickly!) certainly not a problem I’ve had with the other toning shampoos and products I tried!

When I went lilac I went away for a week and only had regular shampoo with me. After a couple of washes the lilac was almost all gone, just a silvery tinge remained. I came home and washed my hair using this and Mr Chick commented that my hair had turned lilac again. It really, actually, genuinely works as a toning shampoo. You probably only need to use it every couple of washes, so it should last ages as well.

I could rave about this shampoo all day, but I won’t as we’d all get very bored.

This one is a must have!

Fudge Hot Hed Violet Mousse

Hmm, I’m not sure. It works pretty well as a mousse. I’ve even managed to use it as a setting agent for pin curls with some success, whether the lilac tone makes the slightest bit of difference to the colour of my hair I have not a clue.

I expect I will use this one till it’s finished and then not bother again.

Fudge Shimmer Blast Gold and Silver Hairspray

This one is odd, the hold of the hairspray certainly isn’t as good as my regular Tresemme Freeze Hold, but I’ve used worse. What was odd was the glitter in it. I had glitter on my arms, glitter on my hands and glitter on my clothes, but I couldn’t see one single hint of a shiny shimmer on my hair.

Weirdness.

The Conclusion? Buy the Clean Blonde shampoo. It’s ace. Don’t bother with the rest of them unless you get a gift pack, which is how I got them.
