You really should. This is exactly the time of year when you should support independent shops locally and online, and it’s not just the big shops that have special offers to make your shopping a little easier.

Hahaha, thanks for the laughs with you as a Xmas elf, you’re too cute and too funny! And I’ve gone all festive now, even after I had a rant at the festive period shopping over at my site.
Xmas shopping may be a nightmare, but in little independent stores it’s different. Not only can you find some truly beautiful gems of gifts, but it feels more special and can actually mean something. I’ve done it with several of my gifts, purposely ignoring the big retailer and getting it from the interdependent store. I don’t even check to see if it’s more expensive or not, it felt right and it’s more than just shopping.
We really must support local business as much as we can, and this time of the year more than ever. Great post Gemma!

How wonderful! Can I use the Poppy Valentine discount in ‘real life’ (I’m visiting Naarch on the 18th)…otherwise I might have to try on then nip to a pub with wi-fi and get my Xmas discount!!

Hmm, Mens vintage. Prim Vintage on St Benedicts Street has a mens section downstairs that’s always worth a look! And you should always check out the big antique market that used to be Looses on Magadalen Street!

Thank you for this. Not only do I like to support independent boutiques, I enjoy the shopping experience better. It’s less overwhelming due to well-edited selection and smaller square footage. Also more personal customer service–you are often dealing with the store owner/buyer herself!
