Shoe Love – Clarks Originals

There’s a holy grail in the shoe world.

It’s shoes that are comfortable to walk in, attractive to wear and versatile enough to do duty for many occasions, smart and casual.

A few weeks ago I bought a pair of Clarks shoes on eBay, with a reasonable heel, nice styling and, even better, nice comfy padding under the ball of my foot, I decided Clarks was the way to go. After all, there must be a reason that’s where my Mum took me to buy shoes when I had “growing feet”. Back on eBay (I am on a budget you know) I’ve since snaffled a pair of Clarks Originals, inspired by a 1950s design they’re similar to these currently on the website, but mine have a centre seam and rope heels:

Yarra Vic £59

The Clarks Originals range includes classic styles like the Desert Boot, introduced in 1950 and new, contemporary designs inspired by favourites from the Clarks back catalogue.

Made from natural materials and hand finished to a high standard I think if you’re going to £60 or £70 on a pair of shoes you’re better off spending it here than on something that’s going to leave you crippled. (Gosh, how old do I sound? Note: I genuinely believe that utterly impractical, crippling shoes have their place in the world, that place is the back of a taxi or chauffeur driven limo, not staggering with a face contorted in agony down a city street at 9pm)

Whilst the Desert Boot is undoubtedly a classic, I shall be honest, it is unlikely to ever take pride of place in *my* wardrobe. I’m a bit too girly for that. I’d be quite partial to either of these though.

Ripple Water £59

This design is inspired by a dancing shoe from 1929 with the Originals signature crepe sole, it is also available in white, but I think the black version looks like a nice between seasons style, leaving me time to save up for it before Autumn.

Ripple Vale £69

But then I’ll have to start saving for my dream winter shoes in the form of this Victoriana inspired style in *gasp* blue suede! Who doesn’t secretly want a pair of blue suede shoes? Honestly?

And while we’re on the subject of shoes…..

There’s just 2 days left to vote for me in the Sarenza competition! Apparently I’m in the top 5 currently, so your votes really help! You can vote once a day, and if you enter your email when you vote you could be in with a chance of winning £80 to spend on shoes just for you!
