The Best of Vintage Norwich Awards is Coming!
Dear Diary

The Best of Vintage Norwich Awards is Coming!

In just under 2 weeks I am organising the biggest event I have so far!

I have no idea what possessed me, but I decided to make the Best of Vintage Norwich Awards part of Norwich Fashion Week this year, hire a theatre and turn it into a big show with live music, burlesque acts, a fashion show and all sorts of other entertainments to break up the festivities!

The events have been partially sponsored by some amazing local businesses, not least Jane Richards Interiors who refurbish beautiful mid-century furniture. I’ve also opened up a limited number of this years tickets for sale to non nominees, where as last years awards was nominees only. I don’t know how many of my readers are Norfolk based, but if you want to come along tickets are available from Norwich Puppet Theatre for the measly price of £12.

Frankly I’m terrified, I’ve never organised anything involving stages and running orders before and it’s been quite stressful, but I’m sure it’ll all work out in the end!

We have burlesque performances Natalya Umanska who will be fluttering her feather fans, and Daisy Black who will be twirling her hoops.

We’ll also have live music from the Ben Weston Quartet  and The Fabulous Miss K has organised us a fashion show from the nominees in the Best Vintage Clothing Retail category, so we can see what those top 3 really have to offer!

The rather marvellous Paul Preston Mills will be our compere for the evening. He comperes for the No Strings Burlesque nights and Neon Moon Cabaret, so will be keeping the evening together in a far smoother way that I could!

Before, after and during the interval we will have a VIP lounge away from the main bar where you can get a seat and buy champagne cocktails, so if you fancy a Black Velvet, Bucks Fizz or a classic Champagne Cocktail then that’s your place to be.

The after party in the main bar of the Puppet Theatre will have DJ Jonny Love Train spinning tunes from a vintage suitcase and Alex the Mind Reader will be astonishing you with a spot of psychological magic.

Make sure you really get dressed in your red carpet best as we’ve also got an amazing Best Dressed Prize for the evening, not only do you get a Best of Vintage Norwich Award trophy, but Cinema City have kindly donated dinner for 2 at The Dining Rooms and a years membership for the winner.

Basically for £12 you get to dress up really fancy, drink bubbly and generally tart about like it’s the Oscars, but in Norwich AND take in a show with some great Burlesque Acts, live music and fancy fashion. Plus I’m hopefully borrowing a CRACKING frock for the night, see yesterdays Oscars post, they’ll have nothing on me!

Last time I checked we were already over half full, so there are limited tickets available to buy, but I would love to see any of you that read the blog and are in Norfolk! If you’re not in Norfolk and you fancy a Monday evening jaunt up then the Premier Inn is very nearby!

Tickets for the awards ceremony can be bought from the Puppet Theatre Box Office . Even if you can’t come, feel free to wish me luck as I’m still super nervous, gulp!
