Norwich Gets a Fashion Week!

I do London Fashion Week, but it’s not always that inspiring for me.

It’s trend driven, rather than style driven and while I’ve found some amazing new companies and seen some amazing things, I find all the self conscious, over styled Fashion Students and hangers on a little depressing.

Well, this year the Evening News is organising a Fashion week for Norwich, and it looks way more up my street

There are several vintage events organised by Daisy & Lola’s, Poppy Valentines and Goldfinches as well as a vintage style tea party at The Library restaurant. There’s also jewellery workshops, fashion photography exhibitions, flash sales and a special 70s themed after party at Frank’s Bar.

Unlike it’s bigger London sister I wouldn’t say this was an event aimed at buyers and industry insiders, this is most definitely a celebration of the city of Norwich and it’s contribution to style. Events are aimed squarely at showing new designs and styling tips to actual customers.

Many of the events are free, and the ones that aren’t generally come with substantial food or a few free drinks! I’ve listed them all on my Events Page or you can visit the Norwich Fashion Week website that launched today!

I’m even involved in one myself! I’ll be on hand at Poppy Valentine on the evening of Wednesday 23rd February to provide styling tips and advice!

Do let me know if you’re going to any of the events, and I’ll see you there!

Wish I could go, but sadly they won’t give me any time off work to look at frocks. I know: SO unreasonable! šŸ˜‰

I was in Norwich in August and was really impressed by the indie boutiques. I’m really pleased they’re doing this, sounds like a great event. Might have to pop myself on a train and come over.

I’m thrilled to hear about something which sounds like an unpretentious celebration of fashion. We need more events like this in England!!
