Hi there! How are you today?
I’m lounging on the sofa with the Pugs right now, ploughing through some work so I can take a few days off next week.
I’m heading off on a spa adventure, if you want to see what I’m up to then I’m sure I will documenting everything I can on my Instagram stories, so pop over and follow me!
Last week I was writing just before heading off to our third British Champs game of the season, so lets start there shall we?
This week I…..
Played Roller Derby
I know, shocker, right? Because that never happens.
This was a birthday bout for me, it was also our home game, against Rebellion Roller Derby.
Rebellion were promoted from Tier 3 with us last season, and we played them twice. Once at home when we lost by 64 points, and once at Play Offs when we lost by 129 points.
It was a tough game, and we didn’t quite manage to take the win, but we finished with only a 13 point differential this time, so it was super close.
Had Cake and presents
And after the roller derby, there was cake and presents.
Our friends give the best birthday gifts, and this year I got some awesome Buffy swag, and this amazing cape, to wear whilst playing D&D. Obviously.
Mr LLL got a set of divining rods, so I look forward to him locating a spring so we can start selling “Norwich Spring” a la Only Fools and Horses.
Then, much to my surprise, my team had chipped in and bought me cake. Cake with our faces on, so I got candles and cake.
Overall, Sunday was a pretty awesome day.
Had an afternoon date
Mr LLL and I try and do something nice together every week. When you both work from home it’s easy to feel like you’ve seen each loads, but you don’t actually spend any quality time together.
So this weeks date was a glamorous lunch at Wetherspoons, followed by a trip to the cinema to see Deadpool 2.
The movie was great, as long as you like that Deadpool sense of humour you can’t fail to enjoy it. Go see it!
I also had a “Drive Thru” burger at Wetherspoons, it is new on the menu, it was very nice, but as far as I can see it’s just a bacon cheeseburger, but they wrap it in tin foil, which I think is what makes it “Drive Thru”.
Didn’t have a sandwich
This is a traumatic story for me to tell, but I think it will be cathartic to get it off my chest, so bear with me.
On Friday morning I had a hospital appointment booked. It was for further investigations into my high blood pressure that was picked up at my Bupa Health Assessment.
On Wednesday night I received a phone call from the hospital saying that before the appointment I needed to have a fasting blood test done, so if I could not eat anything from 8pm on Thursday night that would be great.
That was not great, I have Roller Derby practice on Thursday nights and I very much look forward to my post scrim sandwich and milkshake.
Not having it not only made me sad, but also very hangry. Even Mr LLL drawing me a lovely picture of a sandwich to enjoy could not curtail my hunger.
I made it through the appointment without crying or shouting at anyone, just. Got told I need to have an MRI, which sounds like NO FUN AT ALL.
Then got home to find a letter confirming my blood test appointment that morning with a sticker on the back telling me I only had to not eat from midnight.
WHY DID I GET TOLD 8PM ON THE PHONE?
WHY?
Midnight is very different from 8pm. Midnight is me having a sandwich and a milkshake after a touch scrim, rather than starving and snapping at people for 12 hours.
It was very traumatic. It feels good to get it off my chest.
Celebrated another Birthday
Because this week didn’t only feature birthday for me and Mr LLL. It also featured Waldo turning 4 on Friday (and my lovely nephew Preston turning 12 today, but I don’t have comedy pictures of him in a hat, but Happy Birthday Preston!).
We took Waldo to the pub and made him wear a hat. I don’t think he liked the hat much if I’m honest, but he was much more keen on the new chew toy we bought him from the pound shop.
And that was another exciting week in my life.
How was your week?
