A Saucy Hair and Make Up Workshop

Once again I’m here to tell you about what I’ve been up to in the busy, busy month that is March!

On Sunday the Historical Sauces took a road trip to Hampshire to visit Mill Rythe Holiday Village on Hayling Island. The Village is putting on a musical show about Vera Lynn as part of a 40s gala night that will run weekly from the end of March. I have been tasked with sourcing costumes for them (more on that trauma later!) but as the girls needed to be responsible for their own hair and make up, we thought we ought to show them how!

As Fleur de Guerre demonstrated this week so admirably, a vintage style outfit means nothing if the hair and make up is all wrong.

Max from Away Resorts took some lovely photos of the workshop that you can see on the Mill Rythe Facebook page or you can see the few photos I managed to take on the Historical Sauces Facebook.

Here’s a few to be getting on with while I head off to search for mens suits.

  1. Looks like a delightful day!

  2. that looks like a lot of fun but I bet it was hard work too!

  3. This is amazing!! I wear fifties dresses with full skirt & petticoat but am still struggling with the vintage hairstyles so this is something that would be really helpful to me!
