Ethical Design Spotlight – Kapow Wow Objects

With materials selected from thrift shops and flea markets Mia Morikawa makes exquisite handcrafted neck pieces under the name Kapow Wow Objects. Each one a unique work of art guaranteed to be the focal point of any outfit.

Describing herself as a “Warrior of Beauty” she started making pieces for herself and friends while studying Graphic Design at Central St Martins College, before moving on to selling them in London Boutiques. After working as a chef for a while her design business needed more attention and she now works full time from her studio in Lisbon, Portugal.

There are a variety of styles, elaborate voluminous neck pieces, Jacobean inspired ruffs, simple necklace style pieces, and pieces that would work as an amazing winter scarf.

KAPOW WOW

My favourites from the collection are this gorgeous spaghetti necklace which fastens with a bolt clip, which I think I would wear scarf like with my winter coat.

And this reclaimed fabric ruffle necklace which would wear with a simple plain black dress for a real eye catching look. In fact I can even picture this outfit in my head now and it would be perfect for a friends wedding.
