Not Just a Cocktail Cabinet….

This isn’t just a 1950s Cocktail Cabinet….

For starters that’s because it’s also a writing desk.

Oh yes.

See……

But apart from that, it was also a bargain. It cost just 35 of your earth pounds from my local PDSA Charity Shop, and then they delivered it for free.

It’s also grown up furniture, proper grown up furniture. It didn’t come from Ikea and it won’t fall apart next week. It means that my bottles of drink, and there are many, don’t have to stand on the floor next to my wine rack anymore, they have a proper home. A grown up home. Like my Mum and Dad used to have to keep their drinks in when I was a kid.

Later I shall spend some time putting all my nice Cocktail glasses and shakers into it and giving them a proper home too. So it is also the start of a considerably less cluttered house.

So many things all wrapped up in one rather lovely new/old cocktail cabinet.

Have a lovely May Day Bank Holiday weekend!

Oh my giddy aunt!!! I am going to burn my Billy Ikea bookcase this instant so I have room for something JUST like this! What a STEAL! Charity furniture shops are a goldmine! Have you been watching “Cracking Antiques”? They go to some ahhhhmazing antique warehouses. Envious? Me. Green with it!

  9. Oh god it’s gorgeous!!
AND perfect for writing scintillating letters O’love whilst pissed on sloe gin! Huzzah! DO enjoy it…you must be exceedingly proud.. πŸ™‚

  12. Now how lucky is that?! Very nice. There’s nothing like drinking, and writing, in style. You can bring back the proper letter writing custom whilst sipping an aperatif!

  13. Seriously gorgeous.

I keep seeing lovely cocktail cabinets around but I simply do not have the room for one. Keep trying to convince the fella to buy them though…so I can live vicariously.

Thank you for being such an inspiration. We had an art deco bureau languishing in the spare room doing nowt but gather dust. Come Saturday, a huge book cull and a lot of pushing and shoving later – the EVIL ikea has been banished and I have been lovingly polishing said bureau ever since!

  15. Old furniture is great and has character. Nice choice.
