This Week I….

Hello! How is it Sunday already?

Doesn’t time just fly by? I hope you have a nice day planned.

We had intended to do a Boot Fair this morning, but the BBC weather app promised us it was DEFINITELY going to rain ALL DAY today. So instead we decided to drink lots of rum last night and have a lie in.

Which of course means that it is blazing sunshine outside right now and we could definitely have done the Boot Fair.

I have serious trust issues with the BBC weather app.

But never mind, instead of making money and clearing space, instead I will be spending Sunday eating cake and binge-watching Netflix, so it’s not all bad.

But before that, this week I….

Ran Norwich

I already told you all about Run Norwich in my race report earlier this week. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a trip to Alchemista, an awesome Steampunk style coffee shop in Norwich and we drank fancy coffees in skull-shaped glasses.

And then we stopped on the way home and treated ourselves to a beer, and then another beer.

And then we went home and ate loads of food and watched the new Jumanji (which was actually really good) and then by 4pm we were basically asleep.

It was a lovely day, y’know, apart from the bit where I finished the run and cried.

Had a Mini Holiday

On Monday I had a long-standing lunch date with my friend, and now also my Pilates teacher. Due to scheduling issues it ended up being a happy hour cocktail date instead. It was an absurdly hot day and we started with Happy Hour in the beautifully air-conditioned Revolucion de Cuba, where we really felt like we were on holiday somewhere tropical.

Then we moved on for one last early evening cocktail and discovered a rooftop bar that we never even knew existed.

Sitting on a warm sunny day on a breezy rooftop looking out over the City as the sun started to get lower was pretty blissful. We imagined we were on a mini holiday in Miami, but without the long haul flights. It was great.

Had a Smoothie Disaster

To balance out the lovely day, I then had an epic smoothie disaster.

It was a really nice smoothie too, stracciatella flavoured protein powder, oats and peanut butter, and I was really looking forward to it.

Then it slipped from my fingers as I tried to pick it up and spilt not only all over the floor but all over the huge pile of magazines I’ve been hoarding keeping under the table.

I had to individually wipe each one clean, which was about as fun as it sounds and they are now all glued together with dried oats. I am going through them, tearing out the interesting articles and putting the rest in the recycling, because now I know it is stupid to have 3 years worth of Runners World and Women’s Health magazines under your coffee table in case you spill a smoothie on them and have to spend all morning cleaning them up.

Bought Some New Stationary

Every time I go into Poundland, which is more often than you might think, as it’s on my way home and sells useful things like sellotape, Epsom Salts and toothpaste, I have to fight the urge to buy unnecessary stationary.

They have a really great collection in there at the moment, notebooks with slogans on, stripy pencils, rose gold pens, glittery pencil cases and unicorn highlighters. It’s like some kind of Instagrammable dream.

But this week I decided it was necessary after all. I have just started my PT diploma, so I decided I probably needed a new academic diary. Oh, and I needed a folder to keep all those articles I was tearing out of magazines in. And probably a glittery pencil case to keep the one single pen I use in.

I might go back and buy some stripy pencils to fill it up with.

Nearly Got Hit on the Head by an Umbrella

In case anyone was in any doubt about my ability to function as an adult human being, on Thursday I decided to put all doubts to rest.

I had to go out, but it was raining. I haven’t been out in the rain for a while, at least not on purpose, and when I went to replace the open-toed jelly shoes I’ve been living in with a pair of loafers I discovered that a spider had set up home inside them.

So instead I got wet feet as there was no one to save me.

Then I picked up an umbrella from the umbrella stand by my front door, stepped outside and swung it above my head while pressing the button to open it.

A bottle cap, 2 empty poo bag rolls, a small coin (that turned out to be a Euro Cent) and, most distressingly, another, smaller, umbrella, promptly fell out and nearly hit me on the head.

I’m pretty sure that doesn’t happen to real grown-ups.

Does it?

And that was another fascinating week in my life.

How was your week?
