What Are You Wearing? Totally Tropical

Phew, it’s a little tropical out there recently, no?

Let me start with an apology for the sporadic posts. I will be back to normal eventually, but I am currently in the middle of the epic saga that is moving house and attempting to install things like Kitchens and Bathrooms. If you follow me on instagram or twitter you may also have seen photos of my Grandparents CC41 furniture that is now mine being moved in through an upstairs window that had to be completely removed. Seriously, this is not a nice simple easy house move! Do bear with me and I’ll be back with some pictures of pretty frocks for Autumn, I promise!

I don’t deal well with humid weather, making this very bad timing as being in the middle of moving house means I have spent much of the last week carrying things up and down stairs before collapsing in a giant clammy ball of sweat. Distinctly unglamorous.

Currently I will probably be moving into a house with no kitchen or proper bathroom as time is short and trying to work full time and do these things is impossible, but I’m sure I’ll get there in the end!

Amongst all this distinctly unglamorous activity I did get the chance to wear my favourite hot weather frock on Saturday night. This dress can ONLY be worn when the temperature is high as it’s so bright and tropical. It’s an 80s dress, with attached net underskirts and a boned bodice that I picked up a few years ago in a Charity Shop in Kent.

❤ Dress - Vintage ❤ Shoes - Rocket Dog ❤
❤ Hair Flower - Flamingo Amy ❤ earrings - Vintage

Of course, the only thing to do with hair in hot weather is an up do. Nothing worse than sweaty, droopy curls. I had the grand total of 30 minutes to get ready to go out on Saturday, and this hair do took 10 of them. I didn’t set my hair first either, this is entirely back combing, rolling, twisting and pinning (incidentally the exact techniques we teach at The Historical Sauces cheats vintage hair class)

It’s slightly messy, but I like that effect. If you had longer you could perfect it into a sleek up do with lots of smoothing and maybe a bit of pomade.

You might also notice my tan lines, so I thought I’d point them out before you did! I didn’t notice them until I changed into my strapless frock and by then it was too late to cover them. Ho hum.

I’ll leave you with one last photo of me pulling a comedy face, but it does give you a better look at my hair from another angle.

Right then, I’ll be off to pack my life into boxes.

See you soon!
