The Retro Chick Halloween Costume Round Up….

I was going to write a whole new Halloween Outfits ideas post.

And I still might, there’s still 2 weeks to go. However, it occurred to me that since I started this blog I’ve shared quite a few Halloween costume ideas, lots of them requiring very little effort and you might not have seen some of them, or any of them! I have therefore decided to round them up in one place.

All the way back in 2008, when my blog was a mere 6 months old, on Halloween itself I showed you a boring black dress and a few accessories from the local supermarket or joke shop meant it was never too late to go to the (Halloween) Ball

In 2009, I produced 4 suggestions for very lazy last minute Halloween Outfits from your wardrobe. Buffy The Vampire Slayer, A Werewolf, The Blair Witch Project and a Burglar. (Werewolf doesn’t need a photo, unless it’s a full moon they look like everyone else….)

Also in 2009 I showed you some Halloween costumes that don’t involve drenching youself in fake blood and stringing yourself with eyeballs. A Stepford Wife, Judy Jetson and a Spy.

2011 was a costume free year for me, but in 2010 I pranced around in 3 more Halloween outfits cobbled together from my wardrobe. An Anti Vampire Protestor (a la True Blood), A Cat Lady, and The Absinthe Fairy.

In 2011 my final costume was Medusa, inspired by Madame Yevonds Goddess Portraits.

I am still seeking out the accessories for this years Halloween outfit, but you’ll see it soon enough!

What’s your favourite all time Halloween outfit been? Do you have pictures?!

Send them to me before 29th October and we’ll have a virtual Halloween party.

You can email them with your name and a link to a blog/twitter etc to hello@retrochick.co.uk , upload them to my Facebook page, or leave a link in the comments!

There’ll be a prize for my favourite costume, I haven’t decided what yet, but I expect it’ll be fabulous and not tat at all. (It’ll probably be tat, Halloween tat, I really love tat)

I love dressing up! I may just go as a 1950s housewife this year hehe I hate not to dress up esp since my babies a little older this year and are getting the concept of trick or treating. Wait…if I dress up doesnt that mean I get to trick or treat?? hehe I just emailed you my favorite photo of my Halloween costume from a few years back!!! xox

  2. I want to be an Absinthe fairy – what a great costume idea!!

  3. Love your costumes, all of em! ๐Ÿ™‚

I used to dress up way more than I do now- at the drop of a (pointy) hat! So I probably have some costume photos to send in. I remember being a cat then a witch, essentially, as you mention, the same outfit with different headgear.

Dana Scully was a fave of mine in the 90s. I had a trouser suit for interviews, all I needed was a torch and a fake cop badge (having a ginge bob already as I did).

  4. I love costumes so much I made a blog out of that and my love of vintage and I am planning two costumes this year. I love your ‘God hates fangers’ outfit, I finally gave into the True Blood love and I’m dressing as Sookie Stackhouse this year.
I always appreciate lots of ideas for from the wardrobe costumes as they are so helpful in a costume emergency, I like the Judy Jetson one a lot!
Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas is my favourite: http://fancydresscapades.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/halloween-part-i-and-unlike-jamie-lee.html

  5. Oh this sounds great fun! I’m actually dressing up for the first time this year, and will be working a lolita take on things ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m so excited!

  6. I always wanted to dress up as someone dead and famous like marie antoinette or coco chanel. But dressing up as courtney love (her early grunge years) would be pretty fun too. pity Australia isn’t huge on halloween though…

  7. Me again and here’s my very first Halloween costume ๐Ÿ™‚

I had so much fun wearing it to a spooky themed tea party today with the most adorable scones shaped like ghosts.

  8. It was so much fun taking the tube into London on Saturday evening with everyone dressed up and chatting to each other. I posted some costume photos on my blog, I am the one in the dias de los Muertos outfit, but I also did the other twos’ makeup.
