Retro Chick and The Halloween Frock

I did tell you October was dress up month, right?

Well today I am wearing my awesome new Halloween frock. It’s got skulls on it and everything.

How I got the Halloween frock is an interesting story of the sort of thing that sometimes happens when you use Social Meeja. Well, ok, maybe interesting is pushing it, but it’s a story anyway.

I bought several super cheap dresses from Chiara Fashions as they had some great novelty prints, The Comic Book print one from this post, plus a few special ones that I’m saving for Christmas (I cannot wait to wear them!). I had no time for an outfit post, but I instagrammed a photo of me in the comic print dress as I was on my way out, Chiara saw my instagram photo and asked if there was anything else I fancied trying, they also invited me to go with them to a Vintage Fair where they were styling some of their clothes, but it was in Leeds and I wasn’t, but anyway, I digress. I had another peek around the site, saw the skull print dress and thought “HALLOWEEN!” so here it is!

I have teamed the Halloween frock with a pair of rather fetching fringed Brogues that Barratts sent me (I know, with the free stuff, but it’s a good job as no one is paying me any actual money, I’m self employed and currently skint. Sob.)

I attempted to look sinister for the close up photo, in the spirit of Halloween, but instead I rather look like I’ve just smelt something really terrible. I hadn’t, I have a rubbish sense of smell anyway, I’m just not very good at face acting apparently. This is why I normally just grin inanely in all my outfit posts, and any photo ever taken of me. If I attempt sultry, moody, sinister or anything else I look like an idiot.

If you would like more evidence, this is me attempting to look like I am screaming and trapped in a cage Halloween styley.

scream halloweenSee, rubbish.

  1. You are just too adorable. Especially love the goofy caged photo.

    1. He he! Thank you!

  2. Smashingly cool Halloween inspired ensemble! I love to sport festive outfits prior to October 31st, too. My mindset when it comes to my wardrobe and the holidays has always been, why limit yourself to only dressing up for the big day itself? It seems like a shame to let the days leading up to it not involve at least one or two seasonal/festive ensembles, too.
